He was born on 30th January 1975
Graduated as electricity maintainer and without professional music studies, Giraldo Bravo is one of the singers who move on the stage. His charisma and versatility allow the audience to express love, fun and emotion. Those who know him, know that he is a quiet person, that he cannot dance, and it’s quite not a good talker, but, it’s a magic every time he steps on the stage.
I enjoyed my work so much, and that’s because people say I transform myself. Actually all my brothers are musicians and almost once we met all of us on the stage to make my father happy. I am very glad every time I step on the stage.
My grandmother, Dora Hierrezuelo, is first grade cousin of Los Compadres – says, and almost tears are coming out – she never sang me Las Mañanitas, but I know how things go and that my family was a musicians family, the first album I recorded with Septeto Santiaguero was “No quiero llanto. Tributo a los Compadres”. The theme “El Lunar” signes me since the beginning and allow the audience to know mw. That’s very important to me.
How did you feel the first time you step on the stage as Septeto Santiaguero’s singer?
It was in Casa de la Trova with a theme of Adalberto Alvarez, “Cuestiones del Amor”. People there applauded and that’s moved me because it’s very hard to make son in Santiago de Cuba and people are really experts.
What about dancing?
“Officially I cannot dance (laughing), but we do choreography on the stage and I have to practice a lot. Out of there, to me dancing is impossible. My wife is a professional dancer and she could never teach me, I cannot move a step!”
El Flaco practices the religion Palo Monte. After 21 days since the initiation, they called me to join Septeto Santiaguero and from that moment my career as a singer broke out. I am very faithful and always go straight ahead. The target of every musician are Grammy Awards so think about it, with 44, I have already won two from here, Santiago de Cuba, with Septeto Santiaguero. To me that’s amazing!”
